Austin, Texas (February 12, 2026) – Wilder Systems today announces the successful design, build, and integration of a custom automated robotic sanding cell for Hughes Bros. Aircrafters in Southgate, California. This deployment marks a significant milestone in Wilder System's mission to deliver advanced automation solutions that resolve complex manufacturing challenges.
The new sanding cell addresses critical needs in the production process, specifically targeting labor-intensive and hazardous manual sanding tasks. By leveraging built-in compliance in the sanding end-effector, custom suction grip fixtures, and pre-programmed sanding paths built from a digital twin, the system ensures consistent surface finish quality while significantly reducing cycle times and operator fatigue.
"We recognize that consistency and worker safety are paramount for our clients. This automated cell not only removes operators from harmful dust environments but also delivers a level of precision that is difficult to achieve manually," said Guille Corriveau, Project Manager at Wilder Systems. "We are proud to see our engineering team take this project from a concept to a fully integrated reality on the factory floor."
The integration process involved designing a custom robotic cell with advanced safety features and seamlessly retrofitting into existing assembly lines. This installation demonstrates Wilder System's capability to provide end-to-end robotic solutions, from initial system design to final onsite commissioning.
